Sydney Babbington

Sydney Babbington For Triton College student Sydney Babbington of Oak Park, Triton College’s smaller class sizes have made all the difference in her journey of becoming an ultrasound technician. “Prior to Triton, I attended a larger university and it was too big for me,” she said. “At Triton, I fell right into the classes and culture of the college.”

Babbington was drawn to a career as an ultrasound technician because she finds the work to be rewarding. Although she acknowledges that Triton’s program is challenging, she credits her success to the support of her instructors and classmates, whom she describes as her “support team.”

“I’m currently in the classroom two days a week and I’m in clinicals three days a week,” she said. “It's a lot to juggle, but the classroom and clinical environment complement each other in a way that enriches our learning experience and prepares us for working full time in the field."

Babbington is completing her clinicals at University of Illinois Chicago, with a focus on obstetrics. She finds working with pregnant patients incredibly fulfilling and enjoys helping people. As an extrovert, Babbington likes being around both doctors and fellow students to help save lives.

“Triton does a great job preparing you for clinicals,” she said. “This field is so much more than I thought it was going to be. It’s even better than I imagined.”

“Sydney brings an inspiring enthusiasm and curiosity to her work in diagnostic medical sonography, always eager to deepen her understanding and enhance her skills,” said Heather Amwoza, chairperson for Triton’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. “Her inquisitive nature drives her to thoroughly explore each case, asking insightful questions and showing a true passion for patient care. Sydney’s energy and dedication not only elevate her own learning, but also contribute to the dynamic, forward-thinking spirit of sonography.”

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program at Triton College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) (www.caahep.org), based on the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS).
