Deana Andrejko
Deana Andrejko of Melrose Park is proud to be not only an adult learner at Triton College, but also a returning student. Andrejko started her educational journey at Triton in the early 1990s, but paused her studies after the birth of her son.
“I was studying criminal justice then and I’m studying it again now,” she said. “Before, I had to focus on my son. Now, I’m able to focus on myself and focus on school.”
Upon returning to campus, Andrejko was eager to get involved and became a member of the Triton College Student Association (TCSA) and the Program Board.
“I’m grateful to be of use to our student population,” she explained. “People can be friendly.” Currently serving as the secretary for TCSA, Andrejko is enthusiastic about her role and hopes to encourage more students to get involved in TCSA and be active on campus.
“Deana brings a wealth of experience as a returning member of the Triton College Student Association and Program Board,” said Johnny Urbina, director of Student Services.
Alongside her involvement in student life, Andrejko is focused on her studies in criminal justice. After earning her associate degree at Triton, she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree, master’s, and eventually a doctorate. Her goal is to work in the psychological aspect of law enforcement.
TCSA offers students the opportunity to engage in governance, leadership and campus events. By joining the TCSA, students can develop essential leadership skills, participate in campus committees and, most importantly, make a positive impact at Triton. The organization consists of 25 elected student senators and five elected officers.
