Universal Human Rights Month

On December 10, 1948, the United National General Assembly issued a Universal Declaration of Human Rights that established a set of principles to protect equality, fairness and fundamental human rights. In 2001, President George W. Bush turned this declaration into Human Rights Week. Since then, it has become a monthlong worldwide holiday.
